There is a formula for marriage. There must be. There is a formula for everything. And love – being quite unquantifiable – plays no part. Dollars, not sense. Class, not preoccupation. Convenience, not elopendipity.
And no, don’t bother looking it up. I made it up. I arranged it. Because it contained the required emotions of desperation, serendipity and heart-rending emotion.

The Courts in Canada, and most particularly the Family Law Courts, routinely forget about the fundamental rights of children according to FACT Director, Brian Jenkins, writing in the Mountain News today.
“Instead, we see both children and parents subjected to massive amounts of financial, emotional and psychological pressures encouraged by the courts and other government agencies – something that should truly be described as family violence.”

Research into teen physical dating violence in the last few months has exposed some surprises, and some scope for hope.
For instance:
One study shows male and female adolescents are equally victims of physical dating violence,
Dating violence and sexual assault is associated with suicide attempts among urban teens
Psychiatrists could improve their screening for teen dating violence,
Victims of child maltreatment are more likely to perpetrate youth violence,
Aggression in adolescents is influenced by siblings,
Teen girls report abusive boyfriends try to get them pregnant, but
A Professor says the benefits of online interaction for teens outweigh the danger.

A military marriage often faces stressors unlike those confronted by most others. And so do military families. In the light of reports today that a quarter of all America’s homeless are veterans (who make up only 11% of the adult population) there is obviously a military marriage crisis.
